Global Marine Design are a close knit team of specialist aluminium vessel designers, based near Fremantle in Western Australia.
Jayden Mair
Managing Director
Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, Jayden worked as a design engineer with Global Marine Design for 9 years prior to assuming the role of Managing Director. With his methodical approach to design and innovation, an eye for quality plus a growth mindset, GMD will remain at the forefront of aluminium vessel design.
Outside of office hours he enjoys being on, in or around the water. When the sea breeze is in Jayden is an avid kite surfer and during the lulls loves fishing and boating.
Stephen (Steve) Collett
Business Development Manager
Steve brings a wealth of experience to GMD from his 30+ years in the marine industry as marine broker and marine surveyor. With his primary role in business development, Steve spreads awareness of our premium Marine Kit design product and connects shipyards and operators with optimum design solutions. For most new enquiries Steve will be the first point of contact at Global Marine Design.
Alex Babaeff
Lead Marine Kit Designer
Alex joined the GMD in 1996 and has accrued 27 years of continuous design experience. He leads the ongoing development of our Marine Kits products and his long dedication to the company sees his main role as a senior kitset designer responsible for major projects. There’s very little that Alex hasn’t seen when it comes to designing aluminium Marine Kits!
Daniel De Klerk
Naval Architect
Daniel qualified as a Naval Architect from the Australian Maritime College in 2018 and has quickly found his feet as a valuable part of the GMD team. Daniels role at GMD is widely varied and includes Hull fairing, CFD, FEA, Marine Kit design, 3D modelling and stability assessment.
Away from his desk Daniel is an experienced boater, where you’ll find him fishing or free diving.
Nenad (Ned) Granic
Marine Drafting and 3D Modelling
Ned brings his practical experience as a coded aluminium welder and marine fabricator to Global Marine Design since he joined the team in 2006. This has provided Ned with an in depth understanding of the requirements of aluminium Marine Kit development. Ned has excelled at 3D modelling since his introduction to it at GMD and takes the role of our 3D modeller and self-proclaimed “King of Air Riders”.
Gavin Mair
Retired Founder, Naval Architect
Gavin founded Global Marine Design in 1986 (then Mair Yacht Design) and has grown the company to be a highly respected marine design consultancy and Marine Kit supplier. Since retiring as the Director, he continues to consult to GMD for hull fairing of new designs. Gavin’s 37 years of aluminium vessel design and business experience is invaluable to the continued success of the company.
