When the new vessel owners and the shipyard owner visited GMD in Western Australia in 2007, they had flown in from a 5 degree (c) German winter and we headed to the North West of Western Australia to inspect one of our previous 21m vessels operating for Bhagwan Marine in Exmouth. The 38 degree (c) heat was a warm welcome and the vessel performance and size, sold the vessel to the buyers on the spot. The rest is history.
We shipped out the pre-cut kitset to Germany and the shipyard Schiftswerft Deidrich set about upgrading our kitset to achieve a vessel fully compliant with Germanischer Lloyds Classification, one of the most strict survey codes in the world.
Specifically configured to operate in the German North Sea Wind Farms, this WFSV is a sister hull to the “Borderline”, one our work cats. “Borderline” works in our Oil and Gas industry off the North West Coast of Western Australia.
Built to he highest standards, this vessel is a superb example of aluminium shipbuilding.
The owners Frisia Offshore are now building (in 2015 for an early 2016 launch), their third “Windforce III” vessel from the GMD design and kitset, giving them an impressive fleet and making them instantly recognizable on the water.
